Tropical feeling

Ich wünschte ich könnte ein aktuelles Outfit posten, aber leider fehlt es mir in den letzten Wochen an Zeit. Ich habe so viel für die Hochschule zu tun, dass ich dieses Wochenende sogar von 8 bis eben (23:00) gelernt und gezeichnet habe. Ich hoffe aber, dass es nun wieder besser wird und ich wieder regelmäßig meine Outfits ablichten kann. Und eventuell entstehen auch mal interessante Sachen in der Hochschule (bisher waren es nur langweilige Akt-Zeichnungen, Farbcollagen und undefinierbare Holz-Werke.../ es kann ja nur besser werden).

Für heute Abend ist aber erst mal Schluss mit dem lernen. Ich hab ein Outfit-Foto rausgesucht, das vor meiner Bloggerzeit entstanden ist (und bevor ich wusste wie man rote Augen entfernt). Da hatte ich noch kürzere Zottel-Haare. Ich hab das Kleid zum Feiern im Sommer getragen und war wie immer... overdressed. Ich hab dieses Foto rausgesucht, weil mich das Kleid an Sommer und leckerer Cocktails errinert... und das könnte ich jetzt brauchen.

ENG: I wish I could post a current outfit, but in the last weeks it lacks in time. I have so much to do for college, so I was even learning and drawing from 8 till now (23:00). I hope it will be better now and that I can shoot my outfits regularly. And perhaps something interesting will develop at college (till now it was just boring stuff like nude drawings, color palettes and indefinable wood-works/ Things can only get better).

For today it was enough learning. I sought out an outfit-photo, that was taken before I started my blog (and before I learned how to remove red eyes). I had shorter fringy hair back then. I wore the dress in summer to a party and... was overdressed. I picked this photo because it reminds me of summer and tasty cocktails... which I could use right now.

Last year, we loved Sarah Jessica Parker‘s iconic pale green Alexander McQueen dress and butterfly-covered Philip Treacy hat that she wore during the the Sex and the City world premiere way back in London in 2008.

This 2009, for the London premiere of Sex and the City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker went for a black silk and lace bustier archive gown from Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2008 line with a clutch from McQueen’s pre-fall 2010 collection and pre-fall 2008 lace shoes. To complete her stunning look, she had a black tulle cloud by Philip Treacy to compliment her sleek blonde locks.

Spring Summer Moodboard

Just a quick post with a photo of a mood board I made to let you know that I am alive and well and that the exams haven't killed me (yet...)
I have lost my voice and have been living on soothers and cups of tea for the past 2 days but still, you get the idea. 6 exams down and 11 to go so once they have all finished expect much more posts to make up for my current absence.

Anyway, back to my moodboard. It is a spring/summer themed, taken by my beautiful Canon 1000D and consists of a few things that are currently inspiring me.

Mambo Jambo

Mambo Jambo, commonly known as Mambo nights, is a club night theme held every Wednesday at Zouk, a night club with presence in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The music theme is usually a mix of 70s and 80s pop hits. Over the years, it has evolved and incorporated rock, dance and hip hop. When the music plays, it will rouse the crowd into making syncronised dance moves, similar to what is seen as flash mob dancing today. These moves, usually restricted to hand and upper body movements, are usually expressed in tandem with the songs' progression and lyrics. All of these songs typically played are included in this mix.

One Night At DJ Station Bangkok 2

Slightly more than a month ago we were in Bangkok for Songkran, the Thai new year which is symbolised by acts of splashing water onto friends and strangers as a form of blessing. During this time every year, Bangkok melts into a portpurri of no-holds barred fun, merry making and celebration. All social guards are down, and everyone seems to just celebrate life for what it is.
How things have changed within the space of a month.
Our prayers go out there to those who are just caught in the middle of all the craziness of what happened, for a peaceful and quick resolution to the crisis, and for Bangkok to return to the City of Smiles that we've always loved.
This mix is a collection of songs we heard during one of our visits to DJ Station, a favourite night haunt in the city at Silom. We dedicate this to Kapree, one of our new friends there, and also a frequent visitor to our blog ever since.

Summer is close

So langsam wird es wieder wärmer und doch fällt es mir schwer mich endgültig von meinen geliebten Strumpfhosen zu verabschieden. Dafür freue ich mich die sommerlichen Schuhe und Taschen hervor zu holen. Diese süßen Peeptoe-Ballerinas habe ich mir mal bei Bronx in Polen gekauft. Ich habe damals mein Urlaubs-letztes Geld dafür ausgegeben, aber ich habe es nicht bereut.

Der Blazer erlebt zurzeit ein richtiges revival bei mir. Er hing eine sehr lange Zeit bei mir im Schrank rum und wurde ignoriert. Mittlerweile trage ich ihn wieder sehr oft und gerne.

ENG: Its getting warmer slowly, but still I can hardly seperate from my beloved thights. But I am glad to dig out the summer shoes and bags. This sweet flats I bought at Bronx in Poland. I spend my last holiday-money for them, but I haven't regreted it so far.

The blazer is experiencing an revival at the moment. For a long time it hung im my wardrobe untouched and ignored. By this time I wear it often and with delight.

Kate Moss Spring Summer 2010 collection

As usual I love some of the Kate Moss for Topshop designs (those gorgeous maxi dresses and that fab Kimono) and loathe some of the others (a multicoloured feathered cape springs to mind...)
But for once I think I have found a dress that I could actually wear (see below)

Obviously the whole appeal of the Kate Moss for Topshop collection is that the supermodel herself played some part in coming up with the collection- however the sceptical side of me says that this was not very much- and this is the aspect which shoppers are attracted to.

Many bloggers and magazines critical of the collaboration say that the poor and deluded Topshop customers shop the range because they think that this will make them look like Kate Moss.
But no one is stupid enough to think that one perchase of an embellished shift dress is enough to make them look like the famous multimillionaire supermodel, pouting in the adverts.
Instead they buy the clothes because they look good and they want to emmulate her unique and celebrated sense of style. Sure they want to buy into her brand as well, like any other well established designer or label. I mean I love that little 'Kate Moss' logo as much as the next girl, but people who are interested in fashion can think for themselves too. They are not going to buy just anything with Kate Moss' supposed seal of approval.

But I do have approval for this printed swing dress, from her new collection. So tempting...

200,000 Hits!!!

Our heads are still spinning from the past one week, which was history in the making for us!
640 downloads for the past 5 days for "Lady Gaga: Disco Freak", with a peak of 212 alone on 20 May (Thurs), making it one of our fastest downloaded mix.
The mix is also featured simultenously on at least 4 prominent music blogs: Tons of Remixes (add them on Facebook), Party Favorz, W-A-I-S-T-E-D and Music is my Life - Divas and other Beings. We're floored and honoured!
More than 1,000 new visitors came, with a spike of 394 new visitors, again on 20 May. We get an average of about 200 new visitors a day. This also pushes the blog hits above 200,000 within a matter of days!

According to In Touch Weekly, the "Sex and the City 2" wardrobe cost $10 Million. Set in Abu Dhabi, Sarah Jessica Parker who played Carrie Bradshaw had 41 costume changes! The pieces she wore were from Halston, Alexander McQueen and Pucci.

The Gyspyskirt

Ich komme leider immer noch nicht so recht dazu Fotos von meinen Outfits zu schießen. Diese hier habe ich vor einigen Wochen gemacht und erst jetzt auf meinem PC wieder gefunden. 

Der Rock gehört meiner Mutter... ich sollte eher gehörte sagen. Den hat sie getragen, als ich grad mal anfing zur Schule zu gehen. Früher fand ich den total hässlich. Hat mich immer an Zirkus-Artisten erinnert, aber nun bin ich froh, dass sie ihn aufbewahrt hat. Leider teilt der zugehörige Blazer nicht das gleiche Schicksal. Er wurde dann irgendwann mal entsorgt. Ich sollte lieber nicht darüber nachdenken, was für ein Schatz mir damit verloren gegangen ist.
Lieber schnell ein Thema-wechsel: Die Schuhe! Sie sind second-hand. Ich habe sie mir mal nachts bei eBay ersteigert und bin dann am nächsten Tag nicht zur Schule gegangen, weil ich Schlaf nachholen musste (diese ganze Anspannung: bieten-meins-überboten-doch nicht meins-wieder bieten-und so weiter - hat mir einfach meine komplette Kraft geraubt).

ENG:  I am sad to say I still don't have time to shoot my outfits. I made this a few weeks ago and found them lately on my PC. The skort belongs to my mother... or rather belonged. She wore it when I was starting to go to school. In the past I thought it was ugly. It reminded me of circus-artists, but now I'm glad, my mom keept the skirt. Unfortunately the matching blazer didn't have the same fate. It was disposed. I shouldn't think about the great treasure I lost.
So I better change subjects soon: The shoes! They are second-hand. I have bought them via ebay in a night session of bidding. I didn't go to school the next day (all the tension: bigging- it's mine-outbidden-not mine again-bigging again-and so on - It took all my energy).

Happy birthday to meeee

I turned sweet sixteen on Saturday!

It was perfect, I got lots of lovely things (I got a BlackBerry! I seriously understand why people call them 'crackberrys' now. I have only had mine for 3 days and I'm already addicted) and spent it with lots of friends, family, champagne and cake.
Also my Mum got me a years subscription to Vogue, which I know you fellow fashion bloggers will appreciate.

So now I can legally:

-have sex
-join the armed forces
-drive a tractor
-change my name
-have beer or cider whilst eating a meal in a restaurant or pub
-ride a moped
-buy a lottery ticket
-and get married (but with my parents consent)

How exciting.

And to celebrate turning 16 I thought I'd share 16 of my favourite things, so in no particular order:

Glitter, Kate Moss, dalmations, Tim Walker photographs, The Guardian, TopShop, Obama, Harry Potter, Christopher Kane, Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando (my favourite painting- it's by Degas) sunflowers, Juno, Dazed and Confused, Beyonce, Revolutionary Road (favourite book) and last but by no means least, cups of tea.

They all look so random when they are put in the same list but there you go.
