Karl and the cars

ENG: A couple of weeks ago I studied for my Fashionhistory test by watching a three-part DVD about fashion history. The epochs from the turn of the century to the 1980s are commented by Karl Lagerfeld. When I finished it i zapped through the tv-programm and the new Golf campaign with Karl caught my eye. What fashion King Karl doing there? Fashion and cars - where is the connection?
I watched the spot again on the internet, but I am not really convinced. At least Karl stayed true to his opinion this time. Shortly before I heard him say his opinion about this matter aloud on the DVD:

"I think the idea of cars and dresses goes very well together,
because houses stay,
but life changes and the same cars
and the dresses fade away,
are not in the street anymore,
when the houses are still there.
So it's very important for the fashion of one moment."

Last year, we have seen Coca Cola Light's Tribute to fashion. This 2010, Coca-Cola Light summoned Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld to create a limited-edition bottle. This fashionable bottle is made from aluminum and features a pink cap with Karl Lagerfeld's silhouette in the background. The bottle is now sold at Parisian boutique, Collete for 3.50 Euros ($4.70).

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2010: Chanel

Before I give the recap for the Fall 2010 Paris Fashion Week, I wanted to feature unique fashion show by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. The fashion designer successfully created an arctic ambiance by importing a 265-ton iceberg from Scandinavia to the Grand Palais. With the iceberg's 28 feet height,it definitely made the audience shiver. Meanwhile, the models enjoy the runway as they present cozy knits, furry apparel and thick tweeds.

Chanel Spring 2010 Haute Couture Show

According to Karl Lagerfeld, he had never done a collection without black or navy except for his Spring 2010 Collection for Chanel. For his Spring 2010 Haute Couture Show, Lagerfeld chose a silver and pastel theme. The models sported heart-shaped cartoonish hair, shorts suits, bubble skirts, flowing togas and rococo-heeled silver booties. Checkout the majestic pieces shown in Chanel Spring 2010 Haute Couture Show!
